Air Conditioning Mount Waverley

For the Original Homes, and the People Who Love Them

Air conditioning and heating for Mount Waverley’s original cream brick and brick veneer homes. Many have the same owners they had decades ago, and a heater nearly as old. We fit systems that suit the house as it is, and keep them simple to use.

Original Homes, Long Time Owners

Mount Waverley has more original post war homes than many suburbs around it, and plenty of people who have lived in them for 30 or 40 years.

Those homes are well built, but they were not designed with air conditioning in mind. Roofs can be low. Living rooms often have a big picture window facing the afternoon sun. The heating is usually gas, either a ducted system added in the 70s or 80s, or a heater in the lounge.

So the work here is mostly about fitting good cooling and modern heating into a house that was never planned for it, without turning the place upside down. And keeping it easy. Nobody wants a remote with 30 buttons.

Heating and Cooling for Mount Waverley Homes

Split systems, floor consoles and multi head systems where the roof is tight, ducted where it is not, and servicing for the heater you already have.

Looking After a Heater That Has Done 25 Winters

A gas ducted heater can last a long time. Many in Mount Waverley have run since the 80s or 90s, and some are still going well. What keeps them safe and efficient is regular servicing. Energy Safe Victoria's general advice is a service at least every two years.

A proper service checks the burner and the flue, the heat exchanger for cracks, the fan, the filter and the thermostat, and tests that combustion gases are leaving the house as they should. If we find something serious, we tell you plainly and explain the choices: repair it, replace it like for like, or move to reverse cycle. If the heater is in good order, we say that too, and you get another two years of quiet winters.

Signs It Is Time to Call

  • The flame looks lazy or yellow rather than crisp and blue
  • Soot or scorch marks near the heater or the outlets
  • It takes much longer than it used to to warm the house
  • You cannot remember the last service. Then it is due

Mount Waverley, Ashwood and Nearby

Mount Waverley’s older streets are lined with homes from the 1950s and 60s: solid, single storey, often on a generous block, sometimes with a roof so low there is barely room to crawl. Those roofs shape the work. Where ducts cannot fit, split systems or a multi head system do the job room by room. Where there is space, reverse cycle ducted is an option, and the original gas ducted heater can often keep going with regular care.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our Roof Space Is Tight. Can We Still Have Ducted?

It depends how tight. Ducted systems need room in the roof for the indoor unit and the duct runs, and some low pitched 1950s and 60s roofs simply do not have it. We check on the first visit. If ducted will not fit, two or three split systems, or a multi head system with one outdoor unit, will heat and cool the rooms you use.

Energy Safe Victoria’s general advice is to have gas heaters serviced at least every two years by a qualified professional, and their website has the current guidance. An older heater benefits from the regular check, since a service looks at how it is burning and venting, not only whether it fires.

A split system whose indoor unit sits low on the wall, near the floor, instead of up high. It suits rooms under a low ceiling, walls full of windows, and homes where you want heat delivered near the floor where you feel it. It is still reverse cycle, so it cools in summer too.

Yes. Most systems come with a remote, and many can have a plain wall controller instead of an app. We set it up, show you the three buttons you will actually use, and leave the instructions written down.
