Ringwood Runs on Gas Ducted Heating

Winter is the season that drives the work here. Most Ringwood houses were built with gas heating, and many have the ducted system to prove it, often on its second or third heater.

That is why our Ringwood calls lean toward heating more than most. A heater that will not light on the first cold morning. A system that warms the lounge but never quite reaches the back bedroom. And more and more, a heater that still works but is old enough that the owner wants to know what replacing it with electric heating would cost, and whether the VEU program helps.

We repair gas ducted systems and we replace them, so we have no reason to push you one way. If the heater has years left, service it. If it is near the end, we will price reverse cycle beside a like for like gas replacement, which also brings ducted cooling for summer.

Replacing Gas Ducted Heating Through the VEU Program

Victorian Energy Upgrades is a state program that discounts the cost of switching to more efficient appliances, including replacing gas heating with a reverse cycle heat pump. The discount is taken off your installed price at the time of the job, through an accredited provider, rather than claimed back later.

Three things to know before you count on it. Eligibility depends on the home, the old system and the new product, and the accredited provider confirms it before work starts. The old gas heater must be decommissioned, so this is a replacement, not an addition. And the amount changes over time, so an online figure is only a starting point. Our VEU calculator gives an estimate, and we confirm the real number on your written quote.

Check These Before the Quote

  • The heater's brand, model and rough age, from the label on the unit
  • Ceiling outlets or floor vents, and roughly how many
  • Your switchboard: a photo helps us see if it has room for the new circuit
  • Running costs side by side in the gas vs electric calculator

Help with the government rebate
We relied on Akila's extensive professional knowledge and assistance in deciding on our heating and cooling solutions. He also accessed the Government rebate for us. The Climate Control Solutions team were very prompt, pleasant and efficient (also tidy). We are very happy with the outcome and fully recommend this team.

Ringwood, Maroondah and the Foothills

Ringwood runs from the apartments around the station and Eastland out to the treed, sloping streets of Ringwood North, with plenty of solid 1950s to 70s homes in between. Out here winter is the season that matters, and most houses rely on gas ducted heating. When it is time to replace it, reverse cycle ducted is the option we are asked about most, with split systems for smaller homes and apartments.

The VEU rebate page explains how the program works, and the VEU rebate calculator gives a first estimate. Comparing running costs? Try the gas vs electric calculator. Heater not firing? Book a repair. To the south we also cover Rowville, and the full list is on Areas We Service.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Does the VEU Program Work When We Replace Gas Heating?

If your home and the new system qualify, the Victorian Energy Upgrades discount comes off the installed price up front, through an accredited provider. The old gas heater has to be decommissioned as part of the job. The provider confirms your eligibility and the exact amount before any work starts, so treat any figure you see online as a guide until then.

Usually not as they are. Floor outlets heat well, because warm air rises, but cooled air sinks and tends to pool near the floor. Most reverse cycle ducted installs in homes like this run new ducts through the roof to ceiling outlets. We check the roof space and the subfloor, and tell you what can be reused.

Usually the ducts. A run that is crushed, split or came loose in the roof loses warm air before it reaches the far rooms, and long runs at the end of the system get the least air. A service with a duct check often finds it. Sometimes the heater is simply too small for the house, and then we will tell you that too.

Yes. Most need a compact split system, and the outdoor unit usually sits on the balcony. Before we book, check with your owners corporation about where outdoor units and pipework can go, as many buildings have rules.
